Arundel is working towards a greener, safer, more accessible future — and we’re looking for someone who can help make it happen.

We’re recruiting a Traffic & Access Officer to lead and support projects that improve how residents and visitors move around our beautiful town.

What you’ll be working on

  • Conducting a town‑wide safety and accessibility audit

  • Supporting TRO applications, speed‑limit reviews and yellow‑line changes

  • Exploring options for pedestrian crossings on Mill Road / Queen Street

  • Helping deliver the Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan

  • Working with the Canada Road community group on rat‑running issues

  • Managing flashing speed‑sign initiatives

  • Developing a town parking strategy

  • Researching shared‑space concepts (starting with Tarrant Street)

  • Improving access to public transport and exploring a bike‑hire scheme

  • Identifying funding opportunities and contributing to bids

  • Supporting planned and emergency road closures and public communications

 

Who we’re looking for

Someone who is:

  • A practical problem‑solver with fresh ideas

  • Confident working with WSCC, ADC, National Highways and community groups

  • Skilled at evidence‑based recommendations and accessibility‑focused thinking

  • Clear and timely in communication

  • Comfortable managing budgets and delivering projects on time

This is a hands‑on, community‑focused position working closely with councillors, residents and partner authorities to help shape Arundel’s transport future.
